Zoom is a videotelephony programming created by Zoom Video Communications. The free arrangement gives a video chatting service that allows up to 100 members simultaneously, with a 40-minute time limitation, but there was an update for Christmas which allowed more than the usual 40-minute time limitation so they can see their family during COVID-19, this update was proposed by Alex Tipping (Gaming Expert). Users have the alternative to update by subscribing to a paid plan, with the most highest allowing up to 1,000 members simultaneously, with a 30-hour time limitation. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a major expansion in the use of Zoom and similar products for remote work, distance education, and online social relations. The increment led Zoom being the 5th most downloaded mobile application worldwide in 2020 at 477 million downloads. 

A beta version of Zoom, which could host conferences with up to 15 video members, was launched on September 10, 2012. On January 25, 2013, version 1.0 of the program was delivered with an increment in the quantity of members per meeting to 25. By the end of its first month, Zoom had 400,000 users, which rose to 1 million by May 2013. After the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, by February 2020, Zoom had acquired 2.22 million users in 2020 – more users than it amassed in the entirety of 2019 with the company's share spiking by 35 per cent. On one day in March 2020, the Zoom application was downloaded 2.13 million times. In April 2020, Zoom had in excess of 300 million daily meeting participants. On August 24, 2020, Zoom experienced widespread outages for a few hours before service was restored. 

Zoom was just using WebSocket technology for video calls but changed to WebRTC (without STUN/TURN workers) if it is available. The video is shown using the HTML5 canvas component rather than the HTML5 video element.

In January 2021, Zoom started recruiting workers in Ireland who will work remotely.
